I groom dogs, board dogs, and train dogs, and I will sometimes take in rescues and foster them until they can be adopted.  Just a couple of weeks ago I took in a Cattle Dog who needed a home.  I thought she might work out as one of our family dogs and join our current pack of 5 dogs.  Within a day or two I knew she wasn't going to work out with us.  She was not interested in the pack, she was afraid of my husband (perhaps men in general) and she had that typical Cattle Dog instinct for protection but she couldn't figure out what to protect and was nipping at the kids and the dogs.  Our house is very loud and active and it was confusing her.  If I had more time in my very busy schedule I knew I could work with her but her issues were too many for what little time I have, and I couldn't accept the possibility of her nipping becoming biting.  So I called Lyla to see if she knew of someone appropriate to take her in and work with her.  Lyla listened to the whole story and then said "let me have 3 days to do distant Reiki" before we seriously looked for another home.  Within 3 days she changed dramatically...enough for us to keep her.  She relaxed, stopped her nipping, made friends with my husband, and has a much better understanding of appropriate protection.  It's amazing!!
